1998:
Saw the completion of our first consultation where we spoke to friends and neighbours about what they felt it was like living on the estate, receiving replies like the best thing was ‘the road out’. We received our first funding from Barclays site savers and a start up grant from the Lottery which enabled us to buy a computer and some paper and cover some running costs for rent. First youth club was set up and two part time youth workers employed. Five young people volunteered to take part in out first Youth Training Scheme.

Where we are today and the future?
We would like to thank all our friends and neighbours who have been so helpful, supportive and encouraging over the past ten years – without whom Gellideg Foundation Group or the various other groups and projects such as Parent and Toddlers and Helping Hands wouldn’t have achieved half of the project and support that is available for the community today and we hope you will join us for our celebration events over the forthcoming months.
